Quintennial Retreat of Hand Papermaking Magazine
Celebrating 25 Years of Hand Papermaking
Papermakers came to town. On September 23 a rare assembly of
leaders convened at a weekend retreat in Floyd to imagine the
future of handmade paper, as a traditional craft and a contemporary
art form. This remarkable group of paper aficionados are the past and
present leaders of the non-profit organization Hand Papermaking, Inc.
They are the “insiders” who know the field well, having invested years of
energy and expertise to insure its vitality. Every five years they gather to
discuss and develop a strategic plan for the organization, and try to envision
the future of the field. This is Hand Papermaking’s 25th Anniversary so it is an
